Could daily Hibernation lead to Security issues after longterm use

    Hi,
I use Hibernation every day ... Use it for my laptop at work and at home.
Don t reboot or logoff much prefer Hibernation...

Could this cause security issues? For example missing out on Adobe Updates?

Hybernation can be made continuously for minimum of 3 days , you should reboot or shutdown ur lappy atleast once in 3 days or else there is gonna be a major problem in future , for example ur hard disk boot sector may get damaged if u continue hibernating or putting in sleep for days....

There won't be amy security issues. Just make sure that you scan your computer with antivirus software atleast once a week. Hibernating won't hurt your hard drive in any way. Adobe will pop up when you resume your pc from hibernate.

don't think it would since when your in hibernation mode your not browsing the web and getting on malicious sites, so you should be safe. Like windude99 suggested just scan your computer at least once a week with your anti virus and it's also good to have malawarebytes also since it also catches viruses that might have got past your anti virus. Chances are if you get a virus, that you got it while using it and not when in hibernation mode. So if you have one you got it before you went into hibernation mode. Hope this clears things out a bit.

I have a laptop for 3 years now and i'm mostly using hibernation to turn it off since I'm using it daily and shutting it down once a week. I have no problems with hibernation so far.

Hibernation is merely a system to snapshot the running state of a system, and save it to disk, so that it is instantly available the next time it's needed (Instantly here does not take into account the time required to boot the base system and transfer the data from disk to memory but the concept is still valid).

You can therefore look at a system that is regularly put into hibernation rather than shut down as a system that is continuously running

I have been involved with many systems which are rarely switched off, in both Server and Workstation scenarios, and have not seen any real detrimental effects with this.

The one issue that does cause problems with Hibernation is that not all systems Hibernate in the prescribed manner, and with sometimes crash on recovery from hibernation. This problem should show itself soon after first using the system so should not effect a system that is running OK for a while.

This issue can usually be cured by replacing the manufacturer's motherboard/system drivers but may sometimes require an update to the actual BIOS code

One piece of advice I will suggest is that you reboot your system BEFORE making any major system changes.

This is a good idea as it checks the boot-ability of a system before you make wholesale changes. I have seen on numerous occasions system engineers who will spend many hours due to a non booting system, after installing new software or hardware, when the fault was actually introduced many days, weeks, or even months previously.

The reason for this advice is that many installs will appear to work without a re-boot but do not fully install until after a re-boot, and you want to remove any issues with this before adding extra installs. I would go further in that it is good practice to perform a full switch off reboot after any major software or hardware changes even if the system does not prompt for one

This is especially important when loading drivers or other software that works at a low level, though it is unusual for this type of install to not require a reboot in any case.

Sorry, but you are wrong so very wrong. There will be no problems in the future, no damage to the boot sector or any of that. I don't know where you pulled that information from, but it is all wrong. FYI.
