looking for cmd script to unhide files

at one point i had a virus on a thumbdrive, it would hide all the files in it and say it was un usable data, if you said view hidden files, they would all appear. i had figured out a dll to run in cmd that would unhide the files that where not meant to be hidden such as windows .trashes etc. i had not used it in so long i forgot what it was. i donot want to always rely on a program written by some guy with no name to unhide the things for me with an executable from mediafire that could just as the virus, be insecure.
if anyone knows of a script like what i might have used, id appreciate you sharing it with me.
understandibly you may be curious why. i recently got another virus "smart hdd," it hid all my files and i wanted them back, i had to use 3d party executables to unhide my files, i dont want to be in this position again.

    Hello,

The easiest thing to do in this situation would be to re-format the drive and restore you files from a backup.

To un-hide to folders see this:
How To : Restore Files Hidden by Virus on Windows 7 | SocialBlogr

This isnt advisable though as it could have caused corruption for some files and programs.

ok, so i actually figured out what it was a day ago, forgot to post.
    elevated cmd: atrib /d /s -s -h [directory]

it worked just fine at the time. the virus was simply to be malicious, anti virus cleaned the virus, i deleted my trash folders, ran the command above, then ejected the drive, then plugged it back in to install manditory files nessecary to use

Hi, Thornton. It sounds like you had one of the rogues that hides files in the %Temp%\Smtmp folder. The Unhide.exe tool would likely have solved the problem after removing the rogue: Unhide.exe - A introduction as to what this program does
