    Windows 7 Firewall Issue

I've already searched through the forums for my issue, but I was unable to find a solution.

When I start Windows 7, the firewall does not want to start up automatically.
I've been in services and checked to see if it was on "Startup Type: Automatic", and it was.

I don't want to have to manually start up the firewall each time I start my PC. I know viruses may be one of the reasons my firewall is acting this way, but my virus scans come up clean.

    Hi and welcome Keebs,

    First two questions.
You don't have another security suite with a firewall running, right?
    Is security center on?

The firewall service is dependent of some other services.
If those services are not auto started, nor will the firewall.

When you look at the properties of a service, there's a tab called dependencies.
You can check on what services the firewall depends, and what services depend on the firewall. (none if I remember right).

See if this info gets you anywhere.

See if this will help solve the problem:

1.Open Control Panel in the Start menu.
2.Open Windows Firewall in the Control Panel.
    3.Select Restore defaults
    4.Click the Restore defaults button
5.Click Yes when prompted for confirmation on restore the Windows 7 firewall defaults

Squonksc and Jocee, I appreciate your help. It was Symantec that was preventing firewall from starting up. Thank you.
