Well it would be illegal technically to tell anybody to use ComboFix and charge them money afterwards seeing as it violates the GPL by refusing it's source.

I'm not trying to insult anybody, as this is a noble pursuit, but spotting a line in a log from Hijackthis or whatever tool might be used doesn't exactly require intimate esoteric knowledge that must be purchased. Which is more where my negativity is directed.
Sorry, I must be missing something here, what made you bring up charging people? I've read my post again and I honestly don't think I said that, if I did then I'm willing to hold my hands up and admit my mistake. I just want to note, in case I am at fault here, my training is free and is run by volunteers

What does this line mean then?

Tom I have no idea what all that means. So I will leave it to those like you that are trained in such matters. I know when I don't know and give give credit to those that do know.

I'm not trained yet I should be done in a few months though, at which point I'll be able to help out in the security forum.

Please don't download and run it unless you are asked to do so by a "certified" malware instuctor who has gone through the use and special training of this Application.

Wish you luck and good will with your training. Their are only a few that create infection but it takes many to help clean up the mess they make in millions of computers.

I've been meaning to say it seems like helping with security issues would be very appropriate.

Well agree Hydranix and like I said in another thread last night when I saw that doco on Anonymous it makes us worrying and arguing about security a bit a of a waste of time.

To be honest like that fellow said you go swim with croc and you will get bitten. I personally think the security we use and discuss at tedious length is alright for your everyday crims and spammers whatever but people like the organisation I mentioned you have no defence against at all I suppose unless you devise a cypher between yourself and whoever you might contact.

What I will say though is that the attitude was well out of order and quite frankly rather playground in nature. I for one hope he found the dummy wherever it went

Thanks Jacee, I've never used or recommended it but this is good info.
