windows defender popup after installing antivirus

Hi to all: Can someone tell me how to get rid of the windows defender pop up statiing ( if you are using another program that checks for harmful or unwanted software, use the action center to check that program) I have loaded McAfee antivirus and is working fine but every time I boot up I get this popup I have turned off defender to no avail. thanks

There should be an option in the security centre "I have an anti-virus program that I will monitor myself" or similar that should stop it.

If you still get the warning after this then It may be a case of editing the startup task which runs defender but this should not be required

1: Click Start and in the Start Search box, type services.msc and press Enter.
    2: Double Click Windows Defender.
Change the Startup type as Disabled and Service status as Stopped.

    Hi John,

If you go into action centre and select the option to change action centre settings you should have an option to switch off reporting for spyware programs.

If this does not work then the only thing I could suggest is to let the program run but to set it's excludes list to *.* which will exclude everything
