    Opinions on Webroot Antivirus?

I have a friend who is getting infected when running MSE, so I want to upgrade him to more protection. I recommended adding Malwarebytes paid Real Time protection but he wants to instead use Webroot Secure Anywhere Antivirus so he can get 550 AA miles with the $20 purchase.

    Any opinions on this?

I here that Webroot is very good. But Malwarebytes I will never use again. It doesn't find all of the infected files.

First time I've ever heard that about Malwarebytes which is the go-to solution for infection here.

    Thanks.

In my opinion, a paid Malwarebytes is one of the best investments you could recommend. I'm not familiar with Webroot, but like most of these it boils down to personal choice I guess.

Malwarebytes, even the paid version, is not designed to replace an AV but to enhance the chances of a virus being detected.

As I said my recommendation is "adding Malwarebytes paid Real Time protection" to MSE.

Do you feel Malwarebytes Real Time protection enhances MSE protection enough to recommend the combination for those who are infection-prone?

If not what are your recommendations?

    Any take on Webroot?

My question is, why is your friend "malware prone" ??

I'm not sure in his case. But we know that some do not surf safe and are oblivious to clicking risky downloads.

In my Dad's case it is clicking fake AV messages, so I solved those chronic infections with Malwarebytes Real Time which catches what MSE let pass.

    Malwarebytes paid add two things.

    1. Site blocking from its own list of known risky sites.
    2. Detection of malware using a heuristic analysis of traffic and downloads. In other words it doesn't look for specific viruses but virus like signatures.

Here's what I found on Webroot, new today: Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete 2012 - Download.com

He's getting same for $20 with 38 miles per dollar spent on American Aadvantage shopping mall.
