    I removed Java from this computer about a week ago. It took awhile. It's in all kinds of places. Everything still works fine. I agree with DBone, the only way to know is to remove it and see what happens. I also just remove it from one of my other computers just to make sure everything is cool.

    hmm..what application that needs java?

    Just Google Who needs Java. My understanding for PC's some programs but I can't find exactly what ones. None of mine do, also my online banking still works. I'm glad they don't use it.

    Is there any other way to detect Java applications? I am responsible for the computers of others and it isn't feasible to remove Java to find out if it is needed.
