I normally login with a Standard/Limited account and haven't seen this issue.
Does anyone have this issue with a Standard/Limited account?
Maybe it's a problem when logged in as an Admin user ?

Ran a Custom scan as I slept (It had the rootkit scan unchecked by default), and it completed. No idea if it froze, but it didn't BSOD. I'll have to try a scan while I'm using the PC to see if it's the same. A Guy

"Threat Scan" is the new term for "Quick Scan" isn't it? How long is a full scan?

I would be happy if ANY scanner could do a FULL (Custom) scan in less than an hour!
I have several hundred GB of media files and other "large files" online normally ... on a HD spinner
That's where I see the problem with a FULL scan ...
SSD vs HD = big difference
Scanning these "media and large files" is what takes so long for me ...

I run the scan on the trouble computer just a few minutes ago and it stopped on:
    Windows\Web\Wall Paper Scenes\img29.jpg for 15 min.
It will probably be on your computer. It comes with Windows I think.
When you see the picture you will understand why it takes so long to scan it.
When the scan completed it found this.
Trojan: Boaxxe in file x86 asus aasp 1.01.02 pow nap.dll
I'm going to do more investagating. I scan the pictures and found no problem after removing the Trojan.
I added some info to the bottom of this post about mbam scanning these images.

Maybe I missed this, but does the free version 2.xx also cause freezes, or just the Pro (paid) version?
I'll test that a bit later.

Here is an MBAM forum thread where someone has issues with the Free version:

Nice find, but different from what these videos show. I was able to do other things during the scan, especially while mbam was hanging up and doing nothing.

I'm testing the trial version as a standard user now. I've already seen some brief hangs like those in the 2nd video. [FYI - Those videos were taken while logged on as admin. The total scan time was more than 4hrs on a VM (SSD) with only a few things installed... but don't put too much stock in that long scan time - because Process Monitor was eating up a lot of resources. I should of setup Process Monitor to be backed by files on a drive not being scanned.]
