Release Date: June 10th 2016

Introducing Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware - Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta - Malwarebytes Forums

Quote:
This is only available for new downloads to start, but we'll enable upgrades for current users later this week. If you're running an earlier beta, you can always download and install Beta 6 on top of your current version.
Change Log for Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware (BETA) 0.9.16.484 Known Issue:
  • If installing the upgrade on Windows 8.1 x64 over a previous Beta, the service may not start automatically. In this case, simply click Start Protection on the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware dashboard or run the Beta installer a second time.
Improvements:
  • New ransomware variants of DMA Locker, CryptoXXX and CryptoJoker are now detected
  • Improved remediation, including ability to kill a process and more complete removal of ransomware traces
  • Performance improvements to prevent high CPU and memory usage
  • Further enhancements to prevent false positives
  • Added tray icon status indicator whenever protection is disabled
  • Added version information to About page to indicate specific component package installed
  • Enhanced messaging after a BETA has expired so that it's clear a new version should be installed
  • Updated the dialog message shown when attempting to restore a file marked for deletion to clarify that restoring cannot proceed until after the reboot
Issues Fixed:
  • Fixed issue where shutdown times increased after installing Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware
  • Fixed issue where Microsoft Office applications would only open files as Read Only
  • Fixed issue where detections were triggered on an excluded process
  • Fixed issue where Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware was not the active window immediately after installation
  • Fixed issue where resizing a column in a table could make it disappear from view
  • Fixed issue when deleting multiple items from quarantine where only half of the items were actually deleted
  • Fixed issue where quarantined items were not always listed in chronological order after restoring or deleting items from the list

WHQL Version: 2.2.1.1043
Release Date: March 18th 2016

Release history

Release Notes:

Quote:
We’re happy to announce that our latest MBAM patch release, MBAM 2.2.1.1043, was released today. You may download MBAM 2.2.1.1043 from this link.

We’ll be enabling automatic upgrades for current users beginning next week. If you’d like to upgrade before then, simply download the new version from the link above and install.

Here's the full list of What’s New in v. 2.2.1--
Improvements:
  • Context Menu scanning option is now enabled by default. Note if you had this option disabled previously and want to retain that setting, you must disable again manually this one time only. Future updates will retain the setting properly
  • Improved renewal experience for those who purchased in retail store so that the original license key is retained post-renewal instead of requiring that a new key be entered and activated
  • Improved End of Trial experience so it is clear that trial has expired and real-time protection is no longer available
  • Added additional license checks to ensure subscription details are updated as quickly as possible after a renewal is processed
  • Updated company and product logos with new logo
  • For Premium subscription licenses, removed Renew button from My Account screen to avoid confusion over license term
Issues Fixed:
  • Fixed security vulnerability to ensure database updates are downloaded over SSL connections only
  • Fixed crash that occurred if Dell Backup and Recovery software was installed on same system
  • Fixed issue where scheduled scan did not honor weekly recurrence properly
  • Fixed issue where license expiration notices were incorrectly displaying multiple times in rapid succession
  • Fixed issue where the Scheduler would continue to run in certain cases after a trial had expired
  • Fixed issue where the update progress bar on the Dashboard would appear to hang and would never complete
  • Several improvements to Chameleon self-protection

The Chameleon is great I believe it lets people delete threats easily and lets MBAM run when blocked, small but useful update.

Several years ago I won the paid version of Malwarebytes and it always worked great. I have just updated to the most current version and find that the real time protection becomes disabled at each boot. I have restored Malwarebytes to the earlier version and it works fine, again. Might be a bug in the latest version. To all those that have the paid version, you may want to check that your real time protection is still enabled after boot.

I've updated a few Win 7 PC's with MBAM Pro to the new version and I haven't seen this problem.
I do see some people reporting the issue in the MBAM forum.

Here is one of those threads - post #8 is the post with suggestions to fix it.

I checked my updated version. I have a paid copy. After I restarted it did not start or show up in the notification area. As it turned out Win Patrol had blocked the startup. After I authorized it in Win Patrol, I restarted again and all is well.

I have now tested it on Windows 7 and it looks OK. The first time I booted it took a while before the tray icon appeared. It may be a little buggy as they now have 2 choices on the protection tab. File System Protection and Website Blocking. I have both checked.

Malwarebytes version 1.61
Malwarebytes released version 1.61 today. I tried to update using the auto update on a W7 x64 PC and it failed. I ran the mbam-clean uninstall utility and downloaded/installed version 1.61 without issues. Had to re-register and reconfigure the options. I'll wait a few days to see if others...

Malwarebytes Database Version
I just ran the updater in Malwarebytes, and was surprised at the change in version numbers, as can be seen in the screenshot. I suppose they may just have decided to use a different system, but I'm wondering if it might indicate something more nefarious, like someone else slipping into the picture?

Full retail version of Malwarebytes & Comodo.. anyone using both?
