In public wireless places, malware comes from the other computers that are on the network, not the router. Always make sure your firewall is set to public, so it will stealth its ports to all other computers on the public wifi network. That way, other computers will not be able to see your computer while connected to the network. Other than that, it is no different from being at home.........There is always a risk of a malware infection any time you are on the web. Always use antivirus software, keep it up to date and do periodic scans with Malwarebytes and HitMan Pro (both are free). HitMan Pro Malwarebytes
