| | Windows cannot start the security centre service I am unable to start the security centre service. It gives me an error message: Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. I suspect some malware as it has disabled all services. Now I am not able to connect with Internet and do the scan. Please help Last edited by Rmalik; 12 Aug 2012 at 10:59 PM.. | | Welcome to Seven Forums Rmalik. This does have all the earmarks of an infection. You might see if you can put Windows Defender Off line on a USB or CD using a friends PC, and run a scan with it. Windows Defender Offline The following dependencies are required for the Security Center Service:  All should be set to Automatic and Started.
