    Yes mse is just as good as the competion. Its in their best interest for windows user to have a great experience virus and hassle free. However this is just antivirus. Other paid services have many other features like firewall, backups, spyware, password managers and more.

    scannow did not find any integrity problems. So what about them missing dlls listed by FSS?

    guessing the disable antispyware doesn't look good!!!!

    tried running scannow from boot using the command as OS on C: drive

    sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
    says "windows resource protection could not perform operation"

    Why not just use sfc /scannow in an elevated (run as administrator) command prompt?

    You could also try other malware scanners:

    ESET Online Virus Scanner | ESET

I am rather new to this so please bear with me. The other day while my wife and I were away from the house there was a thunder storm here that caused a power outage. Now my computer won't post. Sounds like a motherboard to me. What do you guys think?
