    MS Security Essentials

I updated malware definitions for MS Security Essentials but it still indicate the definitions are not updated.

    I've had that happen.

I uninstalled MSE and then reinstalled it. Problem went away.

Are you by any chance using some sort of "disk cleanup" program? They can delete your logs and make MSE think it has not been updated recently.

Faced the similar issue with MS Security Essentials. I would advise you to re-install it and then let us know.

If you are using CCleaner, you have to uncheck the MS Antimalware & Windows defender boxes.

That may be the problem, although the usual problem it causes is to say your PC has never been scanned.

Go with the reinstall as suggested above & post back.
