    Tiny firewall.....

Has anybody tried TinyWall with your Windows 7 firewall? I had it for a few months and it works great in test, even the GRC LeakTest with no pop-ups or questions. It's not a firewall, it makes your standard Win 7 firewall more powerfull and adjustable

    Here's their website-

I don't have tried it, but as far as I can see, isn't it just a wrapper and a nicer interface for the standard built-in Windows firewall?
I see little reason to use it. Moreover, the most renowned feature is that it provides NO popups. However, the lack of those popups is precisely, the one of the greats flaws of Windows firewall. Anyone knows if there is some feature that may justify it?

It's not a garden variety type control device, it changes the way Win 7 operates
Windows 7 firewall does have a pop-up, you have to check off the option. Go to the Control Panel to change it. Tiny Wall makes the Win 7 firewall almost bullet proof since it verifies what programs you have on your desktop when you install it, then locks down so if any unauthorized application tries to enter it blocks it.

From TinyWall...... "TinyWall does not keep popping up with questions about applications/processes attempting to connect to the internet. Access is automatically denied to all but the most obvious – but, it is very simple to add any trusted applications to the list of exceptions – TinyWall provides several very easy methods."

Does this firewall conflict with online gaming and steam? Never heard of it but it seems interesting.

It should since it's the same WIN 7 firewall, but i'm not sure since I don't have any games on this computer. It's free, just download and let it read your software and programs using the 'AUTOLEARN' .
What ever you use on your desktop, just open and use them and the 'AUTOLEARN' will label them OK and when you go back to NORMAL, no other program will be let in your computer. You can let in new downloads after you train your computer by switching to AUTOLEARN again .

Il'l give it a go and give some feedback,if i dislike it or it gives me problems il'l mention them. Anyways if anything goes wrong I just back to the regular windows firewall. Will do some little test of my own.

I had a few problems with it, so I switched back to Comodo.

What if one has programs installed that one doesn't want to "phone home."

Not sure about that. The downloads I have on my DeskTop are your average programs ( Hit Man, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Wise Care 365...etc) no games. Haven't had any problems. If a program isn't 'learned' , it can't phone home, like when it is trying to update. I just use 'AUTOLEARN' while it's updating, then switch back to 'NORMAL. Once you get them 'learned' , they will be alright and updating is permitted.
