Need help with setting my MSE to run a scheduled scan

I installed MSE about 5 weeks ago. I manually ran a full scan (which takes quite awhile) and then I went to 'Settings Tab' and did the following:
-Run a scheduled scan on my computer..CHECKED
and my personal choice was for Moday around 2 AM
-Check for the latest virus and spyware before running scan...CHECK
-Start the scheduled scan only when my computer is on but not in use I have tried both checked and unchecked and MSE has not scanned my pc as scheduled, ever.
-Limit CPU usage during scan to, I have it set to 10% (I don't know if that means my computer would be really really slow or if it would be almost unnoticeable..again I am so not a computer person as far as the security stuff goes, I can find my way around the web pretty good though..Please help?! What do I have to do to get MSE to run the scan as scheduled? Oh by the way, like I said I tried 2 different settings..MSE has never run a scan unless I have done it manually. Thanks in advance, Janell

    Here are my settings:

Checked: run a scheduled scan on my PC and limit CPU usage during scan to (I have this set to 80).

I have my schedule set to quick scan, Wednesday, 3 pm.

Unchecked: check for the latest virus....... and start the scheduled scan only.......

I have had issues with scans not running myself, but not in at least 6 or 8 months.

Do you use any sort of "cleaning" application that might possibly be removing log data? This log data is needed by MSE so it knows when it last scanned.

Have you tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of MSE?

My scan definitions are updated at least once a day anyway, so I have never bothered with that choice "check for the latest virus and spyware...........".

I certainly don't see why the typical user would want to check "start the scheduled scan only......".

Regarding the "limit CPU usage..." choice. I take that wording to mean that an 80% setting would allot a maximum of 80% to the scan and leave me 20% for other purposes. But I may have that backwards. It shouldn't much matter in a typical scenario anyway.

I do not use any kind of cleaning software I do clear my cache, history, cookies about once a week though. I play a lot of games on FB and Zynga and I have been told by many others, including Zynga technical support to clear that stuff often. Do you think that is the problem? I will also go back and UN-check look for virus prior to scan, like you said. Thanks for taking the time to reply I do appreciate it. ~Janell

    I would doubt it, but....??.....

I'd do the uninstall and reinstall thing.

Then use settings similar to mine.

If you still get no joy, post back and consider that maybe those other things you mention DO matter, although I wouldn't draw any immediate conclusions.
