MS Security Essentials (MSE) definition updates?

How often does Windows Update check for and install MS Security Essentials (MSE) definition updates?

I noticed that for the last few weeks MS is updating MSE definations a lot more.
I use to get 2-3 updates per day and now i'm getting 5-10 updates per day.
I use a scheduled task to check for and install updates.
I'm just wondering how often these definitions get updated now for someone using "normal" WU for these.

I don't know that their is a exact time or amount of updates available. Security updates come as fast and often as Microsoft creates them for MSE is my understanding. I do mine manual several times a day.

Windows update would only check for updates every 24 hours or so.As far as I was aware they were releasing 3-4 every 24 hours so even with a scheduled task performing the update I can't see there been 10 a day but maybe they have changed it. How often is your scheduled task checking for them. Can you post a screenshot of your installed update list.

The thread reminded I should check for updates, however, whilst opening the MSE program I noticed that the updates were checked and updated automatically according to MSE.

The version numbers for my security definitions at the moment are: 1.135.830.0

These the latest version numbers for the MSE security definitions? I haven't recevied any notifications for updates for a long time.

Note: Have just checked for a updates a minute ago.

    Thanks,

    Harry

I use to have the schedule set to check for updates every 4 hours.
When i noticed more updates daily i changed it check for updates every 1 hour.
That's how it is set now.

Here is my most recent Update History.

I am sure when it was first released it was 3-4 a day. I have a schedule to check on log-on so I get at most (Depending on how many reboots I make) 2-3 a day, but whats odd is those using windows update only
will still only be getting 1 a day.
I'm no security expert but I would presume Microsoft still believe 1 update a day is enough to be protected or else they would have added their own scheduler to MSE rather than using windows update, but I for 1 will alter my schedule to a tad more often:)

Yes I do it manually. Two reason.
    1. I'm never very far behind with security updates. Hundreds if not thousands of bad things are created every day.
    2. Up dates are small and it doesn't take long to do it. I seldom have install problem. Normally a minute or two.

Thanks Danny, that answers the question i wasn't sure of.

I've installed MSE for some people, but did not set up a scheduled task for updates.
I may re-visit some of those machines and add a task, just to keep definitions "more current".
