    File or folder encryption


    Hi all...I am just wondering if there is a free program out there can can quickly encrypt a file or folder? If so can anyone recommend any? It doesn't have to be super encrypted its just to stop prying eyes in to some personal documents :)

    Don't know if I have posted this in the right section?

    try Advanced File Security Basic 3.1.5 , it works under 7 as well

    TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source On-The-Fly Disk Encryption Software for Windows Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux

    This software won't encrypt a file by itself. And it isn't compatible when encrypting a system partition or drive on Windows 7 yet. But it hasn't got an issue with Windows 7 when creating a container which is basically an encrypted folder. Full support for Windows 7 is on it's way though.

Hi, I encrypted a folder without encrypting the files inside it and then I booted from a live CD to check if I can open this encrypted folder and to my surprise I could. Is this a normal behavior? If yes then what is the purpose of encryption if anybody can open my folder? Thank you.

Two questions: 1) After going through the process as documented, when I click on the encrypted file it still open not encrypted. What is the problem? 2) How does one delete the key (in encryption) from thr system? I have Windows Ultimate 32 bit and professional 64 bit. Thanks in advance.
