Anti Virus Program For Son ? (AVAST Causes Crashes ?)

Hi,

What a great Forum.

I use AVAST Free, on my PC, and it seems to work just fine.

My son also installed it at my suggestion, but says he had to remove it as it "caused crashes, slowing down,...etc." I have no idea why. We both run W7.

He now uses, only, Windows Defender, but says, for whatever reason, that he doesn't have much confidence in it.

Might anyone, please, suggest another, hopefully free "good" anti virus program that he can try ?

Much thanks,
Bob

Microsoft Security Essentials is good if your looking for a free solution.

For a paid solution with many more features, Norton is excellent.

In regards to whats the best choice, it really depends on the user and how often they may tend to find themselves in questionable situations .. if that makes sense.

Someone who is cautious, does regualr maint. on thier PC, and watching for potential threats will be perfectly fine with a free solution.

Others who do not know, do not care, or click every link they see even in thier mailbox, just to see what it is will be far better off with a paid solution that offers much wider range of protection.
