Is MSE insane... or is it just me?
Well, it happened again. MSE cannot find its own .msi file.
I attempted to install the new update for MSE, but the update failed as MSE could not locate the epp.msi file. This happens to me about every three months or so... usually with new definitions which suddenly will not install.
If I try to uninstall and reinstall MSE to fix the problem, I can't because the .msi file has gone AWOL. Sometimes I can find it and direct the installer to the new location; sometimes I can't and must tear MSE out by the roots with Revo before reinstalling. Very tiresome.
Here's where things get weird:
Sometimes the missing parts of the .msi file are in the wrong place... like on my D:/ drive (data only, like music, docs, movies, etc...), or my Z:/ or X:/ drives (external back-ups) but they cannot be found (quite naturally) during the installation/update. Other times the missing parts of the .msi file are right where they ought to be (on my C:/ drive with the os and ALL my other programs), but the new installation/update is off in the tall grass, insisting that the file SHOULD be over on D:/ or X:/ or Z:/
So I was wondering... does MSE hide/move parts of itself to other partitions? Or is this just my special gift? MSE is the only app that this happens to... everything else stays where I put it.
