Microsoft Security Client

Hi all,

I've been getting the above message box pop up when I try to start Microsoft Security Essentials! I get an error code 0x80070002 noted in the same error box! This started today when I found a w32 Trojan using spybot S&D! Since I removed this nasty I cant update windows or uninstall MSE! I've used windows defender offline and nothing... I've tried many other scanners..in the process of using avast to scan for anything that shouldn't be there!

Just to be clear My Windows 7 OS is 100% genuine
I was using MSE
I've tried win defender offline
My error code for failed windows updates is 8004FF85 (cant find anything in regards to this error)

Please help me

Sam

try restoring your system to before this problem started--say--maybe yesterday (or most recent to today)--then -- REMOVE spybot S&D -- then try updating your MSE (it sounds like spybot found a false positive and removing it disabled MSE).

Sammy,

Have you ever used any other anti-virus software (not S & D) on this system prior to installing MSE? What firewall are you using?
