First time infection for me - need advice

Tonight Avira detected "TR/Obfuscate.XZ.7546" in the file 'C:\Windows\Installer\AMDEx2.msi'. I have no idea how it got there.

Apparently Avira wasn't able to remove it as it kept popping up again. I install Malwarebytes Free edition, scanned and it found the same file infected and proceeded to remove it and asked to reboot. I have now rebooted, scanned with Malwarebytes and Avira. Nothing found.

Can I feel confident that the threat is removed? I tried to google the Avira name of the trojan but I could not find any information. Even Aviras built-in database got nothing on it.

    Malwarebytes simply called it "Malware/Generic".

I suggest running a full system scan, with both Avira and MalwareBytes in safe mode. you should be safe if it is removed if you notice anything damaged, be sure to report.
If you are really paranoid or scared, then you can always perform a system restore to before this virus popped up.
And as always back up any important files, but regardless it should be taken care of.
This may pertain to your virus issue, http://www.ehow.com/how_7275510_remo...tor-virus.html
As always make sure you are getting the latest updates with windows.

Look in the Virus Chest if it picked it up hopefully it was moved to the chest ok.
Try looking for log file of completed scans. That will also tell you were the file was located. :)
