Windows 7 password compatibility issues?

First of all, hello!

Does anyone have any information on how passwords are implemented in Windows 7?

Also, I have heard that there are some backward compatibility issues with passwords in Windows 7. Can anyone explain this?

Why would their be issues when Windows does not share its password database with other OSes (including Windows) on the system? The only one to manage it and use it is the one OS.
