    Babylon mystery.....dangerous or harmless?

I don't know what to think about this. A quick search for Babylon shows a lot of people being stuck with a search toolbar, or something of the sort.....I never saw anything like that. I happened to see this in my Hitman Pro daily scan the other day......

Thing is, it does not register in Malwarebytes or MSE, even with full scans by both. So I don't know if it is really something to worry about, or a false positive by Hitman. Any ideas, folks? I tried searching the computer for Babylon and HKLM software and nothing came up.

I have seen it quite a lot as a Toolbar, i personally have never seen anything malicious come from it. I normally remove any toolbar stuff though anyway.

I got this on my bros xp machine before,it redirects searches and doesn't let you use google. It's a pain to remove from my past experiences with it.

Thing is, I am still using Google...my searches are all still going properly. That's why I don't know if this is truly bad or not....lol.

    Hello ,

Try installing adware cleaner 2.004 to remove any hijacker, adware and PUPs , here's the link - Download AdwCleaner 2.004 Free - Adware and toolbar remover - Softpedia

    Download and ran a search.
    Try if this works.

I actually did this, after seeing it recommended on the Malwarebytes forum, and it removed some of it but not all. What shows in my scan in the first post is what still comes up after running the adware cleaner several times.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.:)

Babalon's 'tool bar' is a search hijacker.

Then since it is not hijacking my searches and I see no tool bar, does that mean I don't need to worry about what shows up in my Hitman scan? (as seen in first post)

It sounds like you are not experiencing the issues most do, but rather have "leftovers". Have a look HERE , see if you find any remnants. If you have CCleaner (amongst other tools), look in the Tools> Startup and make sure no Babylon entries. I personally also would run the registry scan as well, even if you don't choose to clean. Well, I can't find any of it in any of those places....the various browsers, the installed program list, everywhere in CCleaner. So I guess I will run full scans with Malwarebytes and MSE again, and if they continue to show no threat, I'll assume I am OK. I will keep an eye on the Hitman results to see if they change, though.
