Kaspersky’s Anti-Virus for Windows 7 released as “prototype”

So far, there are three “official” anti-virus partners for the Windows 7 beta – AVG, Symantec (with Norton 360 3.0 beta) and Kaspersky Lab, with the latter announcing the release of its Windows 7 solution as a “technical prototype”.

Announcing a “new antivirus engine” in “technical prototype” form, Kaspersky Lab has made its Windows 7 antivirus solution available for free download to Windows 7 beta users.

Promising “complex antivirus protection from all types of Internet threats”, as antivirus and security companies are wont to do, the release underscores Kaspersky’s desire to be seen as a fast security mover in an ever changing threat landscape.

Alexey Kalgin, Director Product Marketing, Corporate Business Division, Kaspersky Labs said:
“We knew the release of the new version of Windows would be a huge event for the IT community, which is why we were prepared for it.

Seems Kaspersky KILLED the download link for the beta Proto for Windows 7. (I've looked for it to no avail)

If anyone here has that please either post it or PM me the link as I want to try this out & see how it goes on RTM 7260.

Yea you are correct, the Link to the download for Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7 IS good again but it wasn't when I tried to download it yesterday...

Got it now thanks for posting that the link was up again John!

But now I already have Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 v9.0.0.459 installed & Windows 7 build 7260 seems to like it!
I've used KIS for years now so I'm used to the interface & settings already.
Seems to be using less memory than MSE as well so that's good & it has a "Gaming Profile" setup & settings in it too, which is cool when I do online gaming.

I'll see how it does in the next few days or so but for now it's doing very well & protecting my system like its supposed to.

In anyway i think that since the thread is of 01-21-2009, the technical release is a sort of 2010 beta, in fact its version is 8.0.x while the final 2010 is 9.0.x.

Yea you're right, the Final version of KIS 2010 is v9 while the KW7 beta is v8.

As I said from what I can see in the Action Center it's doing it's job in all the areas it's supposed to & looks good.

I did notice one thing though...Bootup is taking longer than it used to. I think this is because of KIS scanning ALL of the startup programs which is good.
I can wait 10 more seconds for the added security. :)

Are you using KIS 2010 on 7? I've read from official forums that they still do not support 7 completelly and that they gonna release a patch for win 7 as soon as it will be availabel on the market.
