Windows Police Pro, or antivirus 2009 variants are everywhere as I see them daily. I still do not know where or how people get these so quick.
    They are clueless is all.

I also find that those who are looking for warez, free music, free screen savers, unclothed celebrity photos and those who click on spam are more susceptible.

You probably don't do that. I don't either. I've only clicked on one infected site in the past year and that was an ostensibly legitimate tourist site for Ensenada, Mexico. (clicked to look at the map and Nod 32 blocked it and threw up a warning). That experience alone is enough to keep me running an antivirus.

Last night I did turn off UAC -- again. I've been going back and forth on it. I've never "caught" anything on Vista with it off, though I hear it can help with zero day stuff.

    Thank on the info!

I've tried everything: adding ip, allowing all connections, changing to auto, learning,...etc...but only turning it off works...

Um, thought you were using Vipre?

And ESET has released firewall module 1052 already.

    Linksys hardware firewall
    Avast Antivrus 4.8

... Uh, that's it. I use common sense when downloading files and surfing the web. I wish Chrome had Adblock, but if I need to surf ad-heavy sites, I still have Firefox with ABP.

If I need to remove stuff, I have Malwarebytes and Superantispyware on hand, via flash drives and burned CDs from work (I work in a PC repair shop). Haven't had any problems so far, except for one alleged trojan it found in my hold IDE hard drive from my prior computer. I don't think it really was, but either way, it wasn't an important file, so it got baleeted either way. :P

I m using Vipre AV only. BTW, is the new firewall from ESET available for download or those having ESS will get it in the form of update?
