MSE for me.

It may not be the best around, have as many features etc - but between my habits, common sense and MSE, I'm in the clear. I never used the advanced options of other AV's anyway tbh.

It's highly recommended here on this forum mainly because it is Free, light and effective enough for most users. Definitely better than none at all.

There may be a placebo effect element for some that since it is a MS product, it must be better. For those who know otherwise, there are plenty of great alternatives as already evidenced.

Used Avast (free) for years. Tried MSE for a few months till I (blush) went someplace I shouldn't have and got infected bad enough to require a reinstall. Now I'm back to Avast Free. Not totally overjoyed with newest update but its a program I have confidence in.

Test your anti-malware/anti-virus protection with EICAR
As many of you know(quite a few don't) what EICAR is, this is a open poll to see what programs pick it up and what programs fail the basic tests. I am conducting this poll because A-Squared failed to see this on a scan, but MSE picked it up before it could be downloaded. So after you take...
