Do You? Sorry, thought I did. No Wildfire games on my computer.
And, BTW, although my laptop computer is a different brand, it is just about a mirror image of this one in terms of having the same programs and OS; and yet no problems with the laptop. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX4720-03/HP Pavilion dv6 OS Windows 7 HP 64-bit Memory 4GB/4GB Other Info Firefox 10, IE 9, Thunderbird 10, Norton Security Suite (Comcast) |

his would appear to be a problem with Vista as well. See here: Windows Defender Error - Vista Forums
Try the solution mentioned here! | My System Specs | | OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. I would try this:
* Disable your internet access, then turn off your anti-virus
* Run Windows Defender again.
If that doesn't help, maybe there's an issue with your Defender configuration. Did you try updating it? You might want to consider downloading it from Microsoft and installing it again. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavillion dv5t OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel Core2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz Motherboard Intel Memory 4Gb Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512Mb Sound Card IDT Screen Resolution 1280x800x80 Mouse Microsoft 4000 Hard Drives Seagate Momentus XT 500Gb

I'm now at the point where I would like to re-install Windows Defender. Will a new install overwrite the present WD, or do I need to delete WD before installing WD again? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX4720-03/HP Pavilion dv6 OS Windows 7 HP 64-bit Memory 4GB/4GB Other Info Firefox 10, IE 9, Thunderbird 10, Norton Security Suite (Comcast) |

I assume you are following Brink's tutorial on this here: Windows Defender Offline
If so look at this link contained in the Tut: Solve Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper Errors ~ Security Garden
I would delete your old copy of WD and download the latest version. Better than trying to update your existing copy (IMHO) | My System Specs | | OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Windows Defender is built into your copy of Windows 7. Theres a very complicated way to do it, but I don't think its wise myself.
