User file security when copying from XP backup to W7

Using Windows 7 64 bit home on new Samsung PC.
I'm trying to copy user1's documents, photos etc from Easeus TODO backup *.pbd file of old XP Pro PC into user2's filing system on new W7 PC.
If I mount the old C drive image, I can see what I want to copy in "documents and settings/User1/documents", but I can't copy them because of W7 security problems.

How do I do this? Should I restore the old C drive onto a spare disk, or will I have the same security problem? I have full admin rights on new PC but I can't see how to change the security to give me copying rights.
    Thanks in advance..

You will need to take 'ownership and "Allow" as "Administrator" on both XP and Win7 computers... this will include Anti-virus and Firewall settings.

Thank you for this rapid reply.. Unforunately I no longer have access to the XP machine.
    Perhaps I can
    1) create new user USER1 on W7 machine with same ID & password as on XP , and then
    2) use USER1 on W7 to copy from XP to W7 Public folder
    3) Access W7 public folder from USER2's ID.
    Would this work please?
