Windows 7: MSE and Internet Connection take over 1 minute to activate on boot

The name is actually Smartv2.

This has actually been a proven utility to disable services via the registry for windows 7, but I will go back to default services to see if this changes anything. If nothing else, I know exactly what was changed and how to restore it, so this shouldn't be a big deal, but we'll see.

Yea, I enabled the services that were disabled and it did nothing to fix the problem. Also, I now remember that this problem was occurring before I made changes to the services for tweaking purposes.

Is there some sort of diagnostics we can run to see all the processes occurring from boot until the internet/MSE activates? Just weird how everything else is fine, except for this delay.

The reason I didn't pay more attention to this when I first installed was because I was using the computer in a different room, so I was actually connecting this desktop via ethernet to my laptop's wireless card, so I just assumed that's what the delay was for. But now that I have it hard-wired to the router, I'm getting the same issue.

Let's see if VEW shows anything ... download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop
Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).
Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

I did disable indexing when configuring win7, not sure if that's where these errors are coming from or not.

Hrm, ok I disabled all the non-MS services, and just enabled MSE and MBAM, and it works fine. I guess I'll have to hunt and pick and see which service is jacking up my system, unless you guys can tell by that log I posted, but that was all greek to me.

Also, if you happen to see any other issue that may be problematic from that log, please let me know.

Well, at least now I don't have to wait on internet anymore. I have a feeling it was one of the ASUS services, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the help so far guys

Just as an 'off chance' this batch file might help .... let's flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file:

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop.
Double click on the flush.bat file to run it.Vista and Windows 7... right click the .bat file and choose to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

Now, let us know if your computer is working properly without "hunting and picking".

I did some more searching, as it turns out, it is indeed the ASUS AI software that caused the problem. I just disabled it, and now I'm not having any issues. ASUS sucks! Wish I would have gone with the EVGA SR-2 dual xenon setup, but oh well.

Thanks for the help and showing me a couple of those tricks.

I would also appreciate it if I could figure out how to remove the Asus software from my computer. Revo uninstaller and MS uninstaller can't see the software, but it is still shown as service options. Not sure how to cleanly purge it.

No Internet Connection After Boot UP or Wake Up
I don't have an internet connection after boot up or after I wake the system up from sleep. This happens just about everytime, the troubleshooter have no problem fixing it every time. There is nothing wrong with the network as I still get a dial tone on the telephone.

My internet stops working after one minute
I boot the computer, open Chrome and start browsing. After a minute (maybe even less) The browser just stops loading web pages, and doesn't pop any errors or messages. The signal exists but it simply won't load. The internet on the other computers works fine. Im not sure about this, but I think...

Internet Explorer hangs for a minute or so
After setting up Windows 7 on a newly formatted HDD, I installed Norton IS 2010, and Office 2007. Somehow it seems that IE wants to hang for about 30-45 sec up to a minute for no apparent reason - no busy circle or anything. I cannot find a reason why. Any ideas? James
