Must I Install Antivirus for Dual Boot?

    Hello!
I'm dual booting Vista/Windows7. Do I need to install an antivirus software on each partitiion or one should protect both partitions? Also, same as question regarding setting system restore point.

    Thanks in advance..

If you use a resident scanner then you'll need an A/V installed for each OS, otherwise you can probably get away with it being installed on one OS only.

Definitely create a restore point in each OS :)

    Thank you for your reply.
Excuse my ignorance, what is a resident scanner? I have AVG Anti-Virus 8.0 (paid version). Would it be sufficient for both OS?

    Thanks.

Resident means built-in, which you have on one OS. You should install it again on your other OS. Or use AVG free for one of them perhaps.

If you are signed into one system and the resident scanner is on the other one it isn't actively protecting you at all.

the resident scanner when active works in real time, not just on scheduled scans. it scans files which are actively being accessed time now.

Play it safe put it on both, much simpler, and safer.

You need an anti-virus program installed for each OS :) Try AVG free from Trust Download - Free windows software download or any other website.
