    Encrypting entire external USB drive


    Hi, I have several hard drives full of personal documents (pictures, videos, etc) that I connect to a USB3 docking station whenever needed. I would like to password encrypt these drives. Can I do this with Truecrypt or Bitlocker? Which one is better? Will I risk losing all data during the encryption process or is it a safe operation? Most of the tutorials in Youtube describe how to encrypt system OS drives but not external USB drives. Thanks.

    Since you are using Ultimate, I would use Bitlocker.

Hi , I encrypted a USB pen drive and it's all fine. I'm concerned though if encryption increases the chance of file corruption over time, i.e. if eventually I won't be able to have access to the files due to file corruption.
I am getting an external HD any minute and I want to backup my entire pc to it. programs, data, music, files, folders, registry etc. Basically an exact copy of my current system but I want it to be bootable just in case I mess up the reinstall. Is this possible? If so what is the easiest way to go...
