Security Tab Missing only in System32

I'm stomped on this one and I'm hoping someone can chime in. New laptop local admin UAC turned off Simple file sharing turned off. I can create new files in system32 folder but when i go to file properties there is no Security tab.

Comparing the file structure and permissions/owner compared to my other 7 box it is identical. I don't want to change any permissions or ownership if i don't have to. I already checked the registry and group policy there is nothing there about hiding the security tab.

No i don't plan on doing a complete restore or chkdsk so please respond with high level solutions. Thanks

    Any ideas?

    Hello jetspeedz,

You might see if this may be able to help.

Security Tab - Add or Remove from Properties

    Hope this helps, :)

I ended up giving up and changed the ownership and that seems to have solved it but im still not sure why it took these changes. Anyway hopefully this helps someone else

Sure no problem, i wouldn't consider it an optimal solution is it creates more of a security problem so for anyone who does it i hope they have pretty good anti-spyware/virus software and decent firewall. I'll look into it more to see if there was something else which caused it and report my findings if i find anything new.
