what is the best internet security for Win7?

Hi just wanting to know the best internet security program that works for Win7 something that at least has a 30day trial, because I downloaded bit-defender trial and it seems to run a bit funny like there are compatibility issues, thanks in advance.

There's no BEST security suite. Every user has different needs and expectations. Check out the security solutions officially certified by Microsoft out here.

Based on my tests, I can say that Avira and G-data security suites work perfectly. Symantec's NIS 2010 and Kaspersky's KIS 2010 have some minor issues that are expected to be addressed by release updates shortly.

Truer words were never spoken :)

There have been a number of discussions here about what the best mix is for security, see this thread for some combinations - Poll: Which type of antivirus do you use, recommend?

Personally, I don't like to pay for software so I use PCTools, Microsoft's firewall, and COMODO's firewall (not all at once - different systems) and for antivirus I use Microsoft's Security Essentials (MSE). All systems are behind a router that does its own security thing.

All the mentioned Anti-virus software are good.

Check the reviews linked here and try one.

    Avast also works quite well.

Download FREE antivirus software - avast! Home Edition

I'm planning on trying MSE, soon.

Lots of good apps already mentioned in this thread. I personally like the combination of Eset AV and Comodo Internet Security (just for the firewall). Both of these perform well (both individually and together) and are light on system resources. (Comodo Internet Security also has an anti virus component which I don't use and am skeptical of, however, it recently received a good review, fwimbw.)

But for a simple all in one integrated "suite" type solution, Eset Smart Security is getting better and better as it gets more mature. However, neither of the Eset products are free, unfortunately. But they do offer a 30 day free trial.

i highly recommend Trend Micro. I am running Win7 and it works great for me. It doesn't slow down my PC's performance at all. You should give it a try. Plus, I hear Trend Micro coupons is offering 10% off on their Antivirus + AntiSpyware 2010 software so you better check that out. I hope this helps.
