Jacee... I followed instructions that you gave but circumstancers somewhat changed this week when I was scammed/hacked by someone... (which I have reported to online fraud and police)... my problem remains in terms of Windows Updates not working.... and having contacted Microsoft (part of the process in establishing was it their technical support who contacted me ... or not) it seems the only option left is to do a clean install of Windows 7.

Since you've marked both of your topics (this one and install.exe found on external drive - how do I find out what it is?) as solved, I hope when your computers are fully cleaned, that you remember to change ALL passwords to each and every account.

My all programs list is crazy. I want to delete some of the shortcuts in there and rearrange it, and some of them are empty even if the programs are still installed. But when I try to open some of the folders, I get this pop-up that says I don't have permission to access this folder and 'Click...

I decided to unistall the Search function from windows setup so it took out indexing, as no matter what I tired it always turned itself back on and started indexing crap again (even stuff I took out of its options etc.) Very annoying. But now that I don't have the Start Menu search box (like in...

Dumb question. When using start option (lower left corner)on win7 laptop, you should have an option to search for anything in pc. This option is below the "all programs" selection. My laptop lost it somewhere. Same thing when looking at control pannel screen in the upper right hand corner is...

Greetings! I shot a quick video of the issue: 4iSPCen51xI When we switch themes, the orb reappears but functionality does not return to normal, then the orb will disappear again and be replaced with "Start" written in text. No odd group policies are enabled (not that I am aware of), the...
