kasparsky updating problem

Kasparsky does not update the databases and application properly. It stops at 85%. It keeps on telling me to update, however the update is set to automatic. I tried to update manually, but it still hangs at 85%. I have also tried the solutions given but none work. Most links given on the Kaspersky Site are dead. Is my computer still protected?

Hell frodi mate have you got any other AV on the machine at all including Malarebytes? and have you checked to see the Windows firewall is actually off it should be by default. If you have dump them pro tem.

Personally I would download the Kaspersky to Downloads (I keep mine on the desktop) use the remove tool from Kaspersky it should be sitting in All Programs > Kaspersky > Remove and then reinstall from downloads with your activation ready for that screen. This will entail reboots of course.

Hi ICit2lol, thanks for the info. I don't have any other AV on my machine, I thought I would not need to as I have Kaspersky. Windows firewall is off. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Kaspersky, but it would not Reinstall after the uninstall. I'll have another go at it.

This is strange, Kaspersky cannot find its own download site. It is in C:\ programs (86).

It's possible that a virus has disabled it ...

Download Security Check by screen317 from here http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/SecurityCheck.exe or here http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt.
Please post the contents of that document.

Thanks for that jacee, I am on my laptop writing to you, I cannot access those sites from my desktop pc. But have managed to get the microsoft safety scanner and am running a deep scan. I do not know how good their scanner is, but at this stage have no other option. Most of the Kaspersky Sites I cannot access, get blank page.

I have a feeling that Jacee is correct, I feel like your system may be infected. A common thing that occurs to infected system is that they can not connect to many sites other computers should be able to do so though.

Click on this link Here to see a list of programs that should be disabled.
The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
Next: Disconnect from the internet. If you are on Cable or DSL, unplug your computer from the modem.
Next: Please disable all onboard security programs (all running with back ground protection) as it may hinder the scanner from working.
This includes Antivirus, Firewall, and any Spyware scanners that run in the background.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
Please be patient while the scan runs, at times it may appear to stall.
When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply
After rebooting ensure your Security applications have been re-enabled.

ComboFix.txt
