Can't reboot after virus removal software used (reposted from general)

Hi All - I'm typing this from memory, so hopefully it's accurate. I'm on windows 7 on a 2011 Dell Inspiron.

I had some spam distributing virus, so I ran the AVG 2013 update. It detected 60+ errors, but when it told me to reboot, it gets as far as a 'microsoft error recovery' screen with options (roughly) of contuing to boot normally or do a fix. The normal boot comes back to the error recovery, the fix option requests I use the windows disc and reboot - when I do it whirrs and comes back to the error recovery.

F8/safe mode doesn't work, and the F2/F12 options so I seem to be stuck without getting in.

Any help greatfully received.

Thanks

Steve

ondrac,

When you get done with marsmimar's instructions, please do the following. There may also be some malware involved...

Download RogueKiller:
Tlcharger RogueKiller (Site Officiel)
Save to the Desktop

When you get to the website, go to where it says:
(Download link) Lien de téléchargement
Select the version that applies to your system (See Note at bottom of post)
Click the dark-blue button that applies.

Close all windows and browsers

Right-click RogueKiller and select: Run as Administrator

Press: SCAN

When done, a report opens on the Desktop: RKreport.txt

Please provide the RKreport.txt (Mode: Scan) in your reply.
(Please do not delete anything!)

Also download OTL:
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe
Save to your Desktop.

Double-click on OTL.exe to run it.

Under Output, select: Minimal Output
Under Extra Registry section, select: Use SafeList

Click: Scan All Users
Click: Run Scan at the top left hand corner.

When done, two Notepad files open with reports:
OTL.txt <-- Opens on Desktop
Extra.txt <-- Minimized, and seen on the Taskbar (Save on your Desktop for now)

Please post (or attach) the contents of both reports in your reply.

Note:

You need to know if the infected computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit system.

To find out if the system is 32 or 64 bit:
Click: Start
Type System in the Start Search box
Click System in the Programs list.

The operating system is displayed as follows:

For a 64-bit version operating system, under System > System type, it shows:
64-bit Operating System

For a 32-bit version operating system, under System > System type, it shows:
32-bit Operating System
