    Cannot OPEN anything

    Hi

My computer was working fine yesterday but when I turned it on this morning I am unable to open anything! everything I click on shows the loading symbol for a while then it goes anyway and nothing happens, no error message, nothing. The only thing I can open is the start menu but that is useless because nothing I click on in there works either.I have got Firefox to open after rapidly clicking, but after a minute or so it says its not responding and it wont work anymore. I have ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware whichfound a few things, but I belive I got rid of them, I have also ran HitmanPro, Spybot, and
The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, I removed everything each of them found and have still not been able to get anything to work. I have also rest my computer to an earlier date, but the problem still persists.I am currently booted in safe mode (which is how i am able to post this) and everything works fine. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated !

I would first get rid of Spybot myself. Its a shadow of its former self and Tea Timer ..... well, I'll be quiet. Then I would run a sfc/scannow to find and hopefully repair any corrupted system files. Just click on this link for a tutorial on how to do that. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

After that, if the problem still persists a repair or a clean install may be in your future. Try the repair first. Heres the links to the tutorials for those.

    Repair Install

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

We have many excellent tutorials here, all written by some very knowledgeable people.

Welcome to the forums by the way!

    clue,

Are you able to open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, go to the Logs tab, and post the report for the scan where 'things' were found.

It will provide a reference point from which to proceed.

On Spybot, hmmmmm...not my choice either.

It's not really strange ... once you've scanned and deleted or quarantined malware, it does you no good to restore back to another point. If you didn't know when you got the infection, you've most likely set it free again.
