Some shields cannot be turned on in Avast

File System Shield, IM Shield Off, and P2P Shield Off can not turn on. I tried enabling it, but it didn't work.
Any ideas?

Are you running any other AV or security program which may be conflicting?

Nope. I have MalwareBytes, but I know it's not causing any problems because I have been using Malwarebytes and Avast for years now. Everything was fine.

Nathan02,

Are you running the latest version of avast!

Is it the paid version, or the free version?

If the paid version, when does the license expire?

I run avast! free on the computer being used now, and all the shields are OK.

Have you had any malware on the computer lately?

Here is a Test as to whether avast! 7.x is protecting your computer against malware:

Another option is to go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find avast! on the list of Installed programs, and click: Uninstall

On the prompt that appears, select: Repair

Restart the computer when done.

I'm not sure I agree with the fix-suggestion or the authenticity of the response because after hitting the unistall...there is no prompt to "repair".

I would guess that this is a bogus fix and a great way to have the AV uninstalled so that the malware can do it's job, otherwise, there should actually be a "repair" option.
