| Windows 7: Avast free antivirus + Win7 firewall ? |

Avast free antivirus + Win7 firewall ? I've previously used Avast free antivirus with ZoneAlarm firewall and also with Comodo firewall. I'm currently using Norton Internet Security but was thinking about switching to Avast free antivirus & using the Windows 7 firewall. But I was looking on the Avast forum & it appears people are having a problem with that combination.
I've read through a lot of the threads on this here forum & am left with mixed thoughts. There seems to be some problems & some people are switching from Avast 8 back to Avast 7, or to the latest version of Avast 8 which I have not seen any comments on. And of course some people are not having any problems.
Is there a consensus of opinion on which version of Avast free to use with Windows 7 Firewall?
If it version 7, where can I download a copy from? | My System Specs |

Hi Mike99,
I'm using the latest Avast 8 version with Outpost FW Pro (latest version 8) without any trouble even though they are not compatible. Outpost program files are added to Avast exclusion list.
Both of the above try to do the same thing but I don't allow it.
Outpost FW has 'Web Control' and 'Antispyware' but I don't use them. Avast handles Spyware for me.
Avast has browser plug ins, I don't use them. I use Opendns.
I also use Winpatrol free + WOT in Firefox 19.0.2

I tried to d/l avast vers 7 and initially my browser (Firefox) said it would take 2 days. I tried again & it said 7 hours. I tried several times & kept getting similar d/l times.
Whenever I looked in my download file folder there were 6 partial avast downloads there, & I kept deleting them. But they keep re-appearing even though I stopped trying to d/l avast 7. I've even cold re-booted the PC but as soon as I open Firefox & close it the 6 avast partial downloads re-appear in the download file. I've even restored the PC to an earlier time, but as soon as I open FF & close it the 6 partial d/l files are there again.
Here's the filename that keeps appearing:
avast_free_antovirus_setup_7.0.1474.exe.part
The second one has a (2) the third has a (3) at the end & so forth.
And the d/l times are the times that I opened FF. IOW every time it's new d/l attempts.
How the heck do I stop these downloads? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebuilt OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel G620 Motherboard ECS H61 Memory 4.00 GB Monitor(s) Displays Sony HDTV PSU Corsair 430 Cooling Stock Intel Hard Drives 1.5 TB Seagate Green Internet Speed 3 Mbps |

I finally got the screen where it says "Save As" or "Run", And then the Download Manager. This displayed 6 d/l happening, but the green status bars were not moving. I paused 5 of them & kept toggling the other one on & off. This sometimes moved the status bar slightly. Eventually that one d/l was complete & I deleted the other paused d/ls.
So far everything appears to be back to normal. But I have no idea why the "save As" or the Download Mgr took forever to come up. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebuilt OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel G620 Motherboard ECS H61 Memory 4.00 GB Monitor(s) Displays Sony HDTV PSU Corsair 430 Cooling Stock Intel Hard Drives 1.5 TB Seagate Green Internet Speed 3 Mbps |

I downloaded it with FF 19.0.2 and it took less than 2 minutes.
I have Uverse with 12 Mbps Down speed.
Maybe they had server problems when you tried to download.
Can you Right click the FF download and Cancel the download? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number home built OS Win 7 Pro x64 SP1, Win 7 Ult x86 SP1 CPU AMD Athlon II x4 620 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H Memory 6GB GSkill DDR2 800 Graphics Card AMD 4670 GPU + AMD 4200 IGP Sound Card on board Realtek ALC889A Monitor(s) Displays RCA 40" LCD TV, Insignia 32" LCD TV, HP 15" LCD monitor Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050...
