Problems with reboot after using Windows Defender Offline

After being notified the Alureon Trojan was on my computer I followed the suggestion to use Windows Defender Ofline to remove the trojan. Once completed, and having cleaned the trojan, the computer would not reboot. It now says no BOOTMGR and just continues to reboot itself and goes back to NO BOOTMGR error. I cannot even get to a login screen or any other screen. I am typing this on a laptop as
my desktop cannot even be used now. The infected computer is a Dell Studio XPS using Windows 7 64bit.

    JudyinHawaii,

Do you have a Windows 7 installation CD/DVD?

If not, is the computer running Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate?

    Hmmmm.....

It can be Windows 7 Home Premium, or, Windows 7 Professional.

    Windows 7 Home Premium:
    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24209.iso

    or,

    Windows 7 Professional:
    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24281.iso

Download to the Desktop the Active@ ISO Burner program to create the CD:
    http://www.ntfs.com/iso-burning.htm

    Instructions:
    http://www.ntfs.com/iso_burner_free.htm

Follow the prompts to install the program.

After installing the Active@ ISO Burner, place a blank CD-R in the CD burner drive of the computer.
Double-click the .iso for Windows 7, and the program automatically opens.

Enter the full path to the ISO image file (on the Desktop) in the Source field.
In the Target area verify the proper CD Burner drive is selected. (The PC may have more than one.)

    Click: BURN

When done, the CD created ejects.

Post back when you get it done.

    JudyinHawaii,

If none of the above works, we'll approach the issue in a different way.

    There are other options.

Need to know what you have done so far.

Did you follow any of the instructions above, and they failed, or, are you starting with the system as it was?

    Thanks!
