    Screensaver disabled

I had my laptop's screensaver disabled mysteriously I noticed a while ago. Now I have no idea how this could have happened.. is there any explanation for this?

I am gona reinstall windows 7 anyway because I have other mysterious things happening on this system like ping.exe(seems like a microsoft application) launching itself.

The only other thing is I have usb flash drive that I use from time to time and I don't know if it is infected or not.. how do I affectively scan this.. or is it time to throw it away?

    Flash_Disinfector link: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...isinfector.exe

*** Note: Be sure to insert your flashdrives before you begin!
Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
    Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

PS ... my antivirus was claiming that a virus wanted access to my computer when I clicked on the disinfector link. It's a direct download, and it's safe!

Flash Disinfector won't run. But I downloaded panda usb vaccine and it seems to have vaccinated the usb and done whatever it is supposed to do. Is this enough or do I need to take more steps?

Yes, Panda USB Vaccine is good!

You should also be able to right click on the USB flash drive and scan it with your Anti-virus program.
