I think that's one of the best way of using the firewall in fact, so you know EXACTLY what's going on (of course, once you know how to use a firewall
), and get rid of the many built-in rules that only reduce security, allowing what you know only.
There is one gotcha with that, however, Windows has a bug that, once you blow up the firewall configuration, it no longer allows you to share folders: Fix: Cannot Share Folder
. There is an explanation of this totally unrelated problem and its solution, just in case you run into it.
