Whoever says NIS2009 or NIS2010 is slow clearly haven't used the product and are just plain Norton bashers. So guys, dont display your ignorance.

I think that I'll remain on Kaspersky Internet Security 2010
I tried Norton few times before and many times it was cutting off internet connection after installation. Plus, it infested a system like a plaque. It was everywhere. A little bit to intrusive for my taste. After S&M like that... how to change your mind? However, I didn't test newer versions... maybe they got a little bit better

They hired a totally new team for v2009, and nothing, I mean nothing is the same as it was before.

I was a Norton hater before v2009.
Now I think it's the best out there.
And I know because I gave it a fair shot.

Kaspersky by the way has been mentioned in this forum many times for causing major problems with Windows 7, as was AVG.

Haven't seen any problem reported here with Norton 2009 or 2010.
Only bad news about Norton comes from people who actually don't use it,
and never used it with Windows 7.

If you want objectivity, the only way is to try your self.

edit: and thanks to the OP, we know we can try it for 6 months for free.

Greetings.

I got to use NIS 2010 for 1 year free because I was a beta tester, and I can freely say that as an application it is a very good piece of software - it doesn't use much resources and works flawlesly, although it introduces something like a 10 second longer boot - but it works great, no problems at all.

However, their detecton, especially of the rogue fake antvirus scareware, an the proactive detection of newly repackaged malware and fresh new rootkits isn't the best out there. More than a couple of times Windows Defender caught something NIS missed. However, I don't come across too much bad stuff, so I'm OK with it.... They are slow, very slow in adding new detections..

Nonsense.
In VB's extensive test it missed one unknown out of many thousands.

Norton detected 13 items of bad stuff, that Windows Defender missed.
Lets be real. No AV catches everything.

What are you talking about?
The definitions are update every 5 minutes.
When I do it by hand to test it, it always has new definitions.
And five minutes later I check again, and there are new ones again.

Another thing. I noticed no delay with boot times, and certainly not 10 seconds.
Must be a combination of factors.

Greetings
