I'll be reading and doing.
Ok. It downloaded components and should I check the scan archives box- remove found threats is checked?
Yes prescottbob. Read jacees info!!!!!!
It' running. Will send txt file when complete.
It is best to see what ESET, or any scanner identifies before removing any found threats.
Jacee's post for ESET follows that concept. Did not see any 'Remove found threats' in her instructions.
I'm going to bed. Leaving ESET on the screen in Chrome and in Safe Mode.
I have done nothing that wasn't on jacee's instructions.
Too many pages to go back and see if I instructed you to download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.
Let me know when you finished running TFC and your computer has rebooted. We will then update Java.
Prescottbob,
While you run TFC, update Java, etc., we cannot forget the number of services that showed with missing Registry keys.
Did not see any evidence that ComboFix repaired any of them, but if it was done silently we need to check.
Please find the copy of Farbar Service Scanner in Downloads, and remove it.
Next, please download a new copy of the program to the Desktop:
Downloading Farbar Service Scanner
Make sure the following options are checked:
Press: Scan
- Internet Services
- Windows Firewall
- System Restore
- Security Center/Action Center
- Windows Update
- Windows Defender
When done, the tool creates a report (FSS.txt) on the Desktop.
Also provide the FSS.txt in your reply. <<---
