I'm back. Reading your Posts #87&88 jogged my memory. The window requesting me to buy the program to fix the 6 viruses it saw had a header of INTERNET SECURITY 2013. When I could not X out the window I clicked BUY to see if I could just say NO THANKS. At this point I believe the INTERNET SECURITY 2013 icon appeared which I deleted sometime before requesting some help. I'm in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING and starting to do post # 79.

Let's try flushing the bad DNS cache and resotring MS's Hosts file

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad:

    @Echo on
    pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    attrib -h -s -r hosts
    echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
    attrib +r +h +s hosts
    popd
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh winsock reset all
    netsh int ip reset all
    shutdown -r -t 1
    del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop.

Double click on the flush.bat file to run it.Vista and Windows 7... right click the .bat file and choose to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

    Open Notepad.....
Select the Bolded text. Highlight the desired text by holding down the left mouse button and dragging across the text you wish to copy.
Release the mouse button. When you've selected the entire block of text desired, release your hold of the button.

The text should now be highlighted in your chosen highlight color
Right-click the selected text. Select copy'.
Now, at the blinking cursor in notepad, Select "Paste." The copied material will be inserted.

Click on 'file' (in the notepad window), select "Save as" and follow the rest of my instructions.

    Jacee,

I am still running MBAM in safe mode. The left side of Notepad is off the screen so I can't see anything left of "view". So I should wait till MBAM is finished-reboot-then try #95 ?
