    Avoid windows scanning all SD card..?

    Hello,

    When i plug my SD card in the reader, then USB port, i can see its led flashing for a least 5minutes, while not even opening it. Auto execution is disabled. The file got between 5000 & 10000 files in it (mostly mp3s) and it's clear that windows's reading checking all the content, not a third party app. It's USB 3.0 speed, hopefully! Still have to wait five minutes before i get full speed out of it, before that it will be half due to scanning/checking... Let me know how do i disable that please.

    Thanks!

    Click Cancel in the scan window, that's what I do.

    You don't get it. Auto exec is disabled, meaning there is NO SCANNING WINDOWS. Just nothing.

    Did you mean Auto play is disabled? How do you determine Windows is doing scanning and what type of scan is it.
    You security software may be set to scan removable media.

    As stated in 1st post... The usb reader led flash constantly and i have half of normalspeed, that during about 5 minutes. Hope it's clear now? My security is just Antivir (free version), it is set to scan on write only, so i don't think it's the culprit...

    Alright, well lets get this out of the way. Windows is not scanning the device. The device is initializing itself when you plug it in. Initializing, importing the necessary drivers and interfaces to be accessible by the system, nothing to do with Windows scanning it. It just happens to be slow at doing its initialization.

    Even with autoplay on, Windows does not scan the contents of the device.

    I'm sorry but no, you're wrong. Windows is scanning it, even without the auto start option. If not, may you explain me why this is ALWAYS THE SAME : If insert ANY usb device that is EMPTY, it's LED won't flash more than 2' sec (meaning it's not busy) running at full speed;

    And why when i insert one with my audio folder, containing +8000 files, it will scan for 5-10' minutes (depending device speed = USB 2.0, 3.0..)? So this is is still not sorted out. Still seeking for the explanation, and therefore the solution!

    Ask yourself which takes longer to read, a blank piece of paper or a 5000 page book? Then you can have you answer, it's normal. I have a USB 3.0 flash stick with 40+GB of HD videos, w7 takes several seconds before I can view those files. A new, empty drive of the same type, bran, etc is nearly instant.

    To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

    Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

    After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
    Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)
    Full instructions are in the tutorial.
