    Firewalls worth it

    Hey,

I was trying with the idea of installing the trend security suite they Virgin are offering / throwing at me as part of the subscription however are suites like this actually worth it?

Sure the antivirus is an essential bit of software however do people really use a firewall other than what comes built into Windows?

There are other bits of the suite such as malware and child protection etc however, are these just smoke to cover up the otherwise bloated and crappy offering?

    Cheers

logicearth is right, a router provides extra protection. As far as firewalls, windows built in is more than enough. I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials an the default windows firewall.

Hi there ..... Virgin have been giving away Trend for a long time ...... It used to be the Micro Version .... What Version is it now ? ... I did try it some years ago .... And found that it tends to hog the memory .... IMO Windows Firewall does a perfectly good job .... And does not use much Resources
