Norton Internet Security & exclusions

Need some help with Norton Internet Security and keeping it from deleting/clearing my cookies for websites like this or others when I have my log-in credentials saved. Basically every time I run a scan it clears my cookies making me have to re-log in to all my sites.

Anyone who's using NIS know how to keep it from doing this?

Please, no NIS bites or get something else. Would like the answer to this one.

Thanks.

This is somewhat strange. This never happened to me when I was running NIS. Are you sure it is NIS doing it and not e.g. CCleaner.

Since the beginning of the year my NIS license had expired and I am using MSE in the interim. But as soon as I find one of those zero dollar deals again I will get back to NIS.

If nothing else, I would call the Symantec help line. Maybe you have some odd setting. Those guys at the help line have always been very helpful when I was facing a NIS problem.

Hi Wolfgang, it's definitely NIS 2013. And for the record I don't use programs like CC; I personally don't think they cause anything but issues, but that argument can be taken up elsewhere.

At any rate it is NIS that's doing this. I believe there is a way of stopping it, I'm just not sure where it is. And as you know, NIS is also looking for snooping cookies so I'm sure it thinks these need to be removed. I just need to tell it to leave those alone.

I'm sure I could probably just do a blanket thing and tell it to leave the files, but I may be doing that at the risk of leaving other junk I want removed.

It's just a bit confusing. Perhaps I should give Symantec a call as I'm sure it's a rather simple solution I'm just missing.

Thanks

I think Maxie had a good idea. As you said, it is probably only a minor setting problem but in NIS even that can be difficult to find.

Yeah it looks like those procedures don't apply to NIS 2013.

I did find a setting to allow me to decide which cookies I want to keep. I just set it to ask before removing. I'll leave it like that till I find what I'm looking for.
