Multiple cases of Malware with Norton AV

    Hi
My aunt has a dell laptop that she's had for 4-5 years. She uses Norton Antivirus, and Malwarebytes, but recently, she has been experiencing multiple cases of malware popping up. She doesn't do much besides facebook, email, and MS Word, so she's not downloading or installing anything unusual.
There was a VAF Search Engine that appeared in her Chrome browser, we got rid of it by deleting the extension. There's been a plugin that appeared that made Ads everywhere, uninstalled that program.
    The firewall is on.

What sorts of things can we do to prevent these types of things?
    Thanks guys :)

When you install software you want to make sure you click on custom and uncheck the unwanted toolbars or extensions .

Do you still have viruses or windows popping up ?

Ok i'll tell her to do that next time she installs / downloads something.
I think that some things appear on the computer without any download or install. Stuff like the ad plugins. :/
Thanks for the quick reply :)

    Yep try

    as well.

I would personally change the security suite if it keeps it up - never have been a fan of Norton, and if she is not able to pay for another there are plenty of other free ones:)

By the by the Malwarebytes is that a paid for as my own security does not like the paid for version.
