Have you tried the BootRec /fixmbr and BootRec /FixBoot inside the command prompt ?

Lets see something . Can you boot back to the System Recovery choose Command Prompt and type in the command below

bootrec /ScanOs and press [ENTER]

let me know what the results are?

Lets see something.

Open up a command prompt inside System Recovery type in the commands below one at a time and press [ENTER] after every command

Inside Command Prompt type in

diskpart

list disk 0

select partition 2

detail partition

let me know what the results are after the Detail partition

typing "list disk 0" results in a command that is not valid. I did "select disk 0" instead.

See attached.

Not sure why it's listing the C drive? In this startup repair, my old OS (the one I want to get bootable) is actually letter drive E...

It's got to be looking at the factory restore disk.. recovery... 9GB..

Thx much! I'm prepared to have to scratch the old OS and reinstall everything, but there has to be a way to "repair" the old OS.. or reset the flag to scan it somehow..
